Job Summary
The Director of Resource Development is a dynamic, high-impact leadership position responsible for designing, executing, and scaling a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support our mission and ensure long-term sustainability. Reporting to executive leadership, this role provides strategic direction for all philanthropic revenue streams, donor relations, and community engagement efforts, while actively managing a robust portfolio of major donors and corporate partners.
The Director works together with the CEO, the Board of Directors, and program staff to identify funding opportunities, cultivate cross-sector relationships, and secure philanthropic support. The ideal candidate will combine visionary strategic planning with interactive and practical execution, leveraging CRM to drive data-informed decisions, oversee high-profile campaigns, secure major gifts, and elevate the Club's brand across Southeast Wyoming.
Essential Functions
Strategic Leadership & Revenue Growth
- Execute Strategy: Develop and implement a multi-year resource development plan aligned with the organization's strategic goals.
- Drive Revenue: Lead and grow diversified revenue streams, including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, annual campaigns, grants, and major gifts.
- Target Management: Establish ambitious annual fundraising goals, systematically track performance metrics, and pivot strategies to meet or exceed targets.
- Diversification: Identify, research, and pursue emerging funding opportunities to strengthen financial sustainability.
Donor Relations & Individual Giving
- Portfolio Management: Actively manage a portfolio of major donors, prospective supporters, and key community stakeholders.
- Relationship Stewardship: Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors through highly personalized engagement plans and effective communications.
- Leadership Empowerment: Equip the CEO and Board members to effectively participate in relationship-building and donor solicitations.
- Donor Retention: Implement gold standard donor appreciation, recognition, and retention strategies.
Campaigns, Events & Corporate Partnerships
- Event Oversight: Supervise the creative planning, budget management, and execution of signature fundraising campaigns and special events.
- Corporate Alliances: Build and fortify mutually beneficial corporate partnerships to increase corporate social responsibility (CSR) investment.
- Brand Integrity: Ensure all fundraising activities and materials align with Boys & Girls Clubs brand and mission.
Community Representation & Ambassadorship
- Public Visibility: Serve as a primary public ambassador for the Club, expanding its footprint across Southeast Wyoming business and civic sectors.
- Network Building: Maintain a highly visible presence at business functions, civic organizations, and community meetings.
Data Management & Analytics
- CRM Leadership: Serve as the organizational champion for Salesforce software, optimizing the system for donor tracking, pipeline management, and data analytics.
- Data Integrity: Establish and enforce best practices for CRM utilization, data cleanliness, and gift processing across the team.
- Reporting & Dashboards: Generate comprehensive reports and real-time dashboards to brief executive leadership and the Board on development KPIs.
Team Collaboration & Culture
- Philanthropic Culture: Foster a culture of philanthropy among internal staff, volunteers, and the Board.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with program directors to understand operational needs and map them directly to funding opportunities.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Fundraising Experience: Nonprofit development experience and passion, with a proven ability of securing major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and meeting revenue goals.
- CRM Management: Leverage CRM software experience to manage donor databases, execute data analytics, and deliver strategic reports. Salesforce experience preferred.
- Communication: Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills; ability to craft compelling cases for support, grant concepts, and donor proposals.
- Relationship Builder: Natural ability to connect genuinely with diverse audiences, including corporate executives, foundations, volunteers, and staff.
- Strategic Execution: Proven ability to transition seamlessly between macro-level strategy design and micro-level execution in a fast-paced setting.
- Autonomy & Judgment: High degree of professional integrity, emotional intelligence, discretion, and sound judgment when handling sensitive donor information.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, or related field, preferred.
Physical & Mental Demands
- Frequent travel across Southeast Wyoming; reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends for events or donor meetings.
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds of event supplies or marketing materials.
- Resilience to manage multiple competing priorities, adapt to unexpected interruptions, and maintain focus in a high-energy environment.
