Compensation
This is a full-time exempt position starting at $96,000-$106,000/year. Trust employees are eligible for a full suite of benefits upon hire, including unlimited PTO; health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; employer funded HSA; 401K; and parental leave.
Director of Programs Opportunity
The Director of Programs is a collaborative, mission-driven leader who builds strong community partnerships and advances the Trust’s mission through strategic grantmaking and capacity building. As a key member of a small, high-performing team, this role leads a portfolio of grants and initiatives aligned with the Trust’s priorities, fosters meaningful relationships with nonprofit and community partners, and ensures investments are community-informed, impactful, and aligned with trust-based philanthropy. This position reports to the Vice President of Programs.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in public administration, public policy, public health, communications, political science, social work, or related field.
- Three or more years of relevant experience in child welfare, juvenile justice, social services, community engagement, or related field.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong project management, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to think strategically while managing multiple projects and priorities.
- Commitment to trust-based philanthropy, collaboration, equity, and continuous learning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Community Engagement
- Acts as a key external representative of the Trust, building trusted relationships with nonprofit organizations, community leaders, public agencies, and individuals with lived experience, while exemplifying the Trust’s commitment to inclusion and trust-based philanthropy.
- Represents the Trust in community meetings, collaborative initiatives, and regional partnerships while maintaining awareness of emerging community needs and opportunities.
- Conducts and facilitates community meetings, focus groups, and stakeholder engagement activities aligned with program priorities.
Grant and Project Management
- Evaluates grant proposals and provides funding recommendations consistent with the Trust’s strategic priorities.
- Implements and manages mission-aligned programs and coinciding budgets.
- Monitors grant performance, evaluates outcomes, and shares findings to support organizational learning and continuous improvement.
- Provides recommendations on grantmaking strategies, funding priorities, and program improvements.
- Identifies emerging community needs and opportunities that align with the Trust’s strategic priorities.
- Manages strategic initiatives that advance the Trust’s mission.
Organizational Duties
- In collaboration with the program team, manages programmatic annual plan items and program team strategies.
- Participates in regular team, staff, board, and committee meetings.
- Participate in internal mission-aligned discussions and activities.
- Takes ownership of professional learning opportunities offered by the organization.
- Supports organizational learning through data collection, evaluation activities, and implementation of the Trust’s learning agenda.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
