Executive Director – Albany County Housing and Land Trust

Location: Laramie, Albany County, WY Job Type: Full-Time

About Us

The Albany County Housing & Land Trust (ACHLT) is a partnership driven non-profit local solution – created to dramatically increase housing supply and access to ownership. By reducing land costs, addressing the development capital stack, and serving as the central housing coordinator for the City, County, and Laramie Chamber Business Alliance, this organizations goal is to scale production to 400 homes per year by 2030.

Position Overview

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic vision, financial management, and program development of the Albany County Housing and Land Trust. This role requires a dynamic leader who can build strong relationships with stakeholders, work with developers and builders, advocate for affordable housing policies, and ensure the organization’s long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Strategic Planning
    • Develop and implement a strategic vision to fulfill the organization’s mission.
    • Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for the organization.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, partners, and government agencies.
  • Fundraising & Financial Management
    • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
    • Develop and implement fundraising strategies, including grant writing and donor relations.
    • Manage and diversify revenue streams to support the organization’s programs.
  • Operations & Program Management
    • Ensure successful execution of programs and initiatives aligned with the organization’s mission.
    • Oversee compliance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards in nonprofit governance.
  • Board & Community Engagement
    • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to ensure strong governance and oversight.
    • Provide regular updates, reports, and insights to guide decision-making.
    • Engage with the community to strengthen visibility and support for the organization.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in nonprofit leadership, executive management, preferably in affordable housing or community development.
  • Skills: Strong fundraising, grant writing, and financial management experience.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with affordable housing policies, community land trust models, residential development and construction, construction principles, and construction sequencing.

Supervision & Oversight

  • The Executive Director reports directly to the ACHLT Board of Directors.
  • The Executive Directors and ACHLT Board of Directors are supported by the Laramie Chamber Business Alliance and are, by relation, direct reports to the CEO and Board of Directors of the Laramie Chamber Business Alliance. 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience.
