Shelter Manager

 

Position Summary

The Shelter Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of Laramie Peak Humane Society and ensuring the humane care of animals, effective staff and volunteer management, and positive public engagement.

 

Core Responsibilities

- Oversee daily shelter operations and ensure compliance with policies and regulations

- Supervise, train, and support staff and volunteers

- Ensure humane care, enrichment, and welfare of all animals

- Coordinate medical care including vaccinations, microchips, and treatment

- Respond to emergencies and make operational decisions

- Maintain accurate animal and operational records

- Provide professional customer service to the public and adopters

 

Qualifications

- Experience in animal sheltering, veterinary clinic, or related field preferred

- Supervisory experience strongly preferred

- Strong communication and decision-making skills

- Computer literacy and ability to learn shelter software

 

Physical & Emotional Requirements

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, kneel, and stand for long periods

- Ability to work in stressful and emotionally demanding situations

 

Schedule

- Full-time position, may include weekends and holidays
