Prevention and Outreach Coordinator/ Advocate

This full-time position is in person in Laramie with excellent benefits including paid health, dental and vision benefits, paid holidays, vacation, sick time, wellness/self-care hours, family leave, and Wyoming Retirement.

Starting salary: $41,000 ( $19.71/hour)

Job Summary: The Prevention and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the majority of SAFE Project’s primary prevention, outreach, and awareness efforts. Will provide educational presentations in schools and the community to diverse groups ranging from children to adults on SAFE Project services, domestic and family violence, sexual assault, stalking, teen dating violence, child abuse, elder abuse, and violence prevention. Responsible for outreach through social media, newsletters, resource fairs, and planning awareness events and activities. Also will help plan and organize SAFE’s annual fundraiser. Advocate duties include but are not limited to confidential services in-person and on the 24-hour hotline, crisis intervention, safety planning, emergency shelter, assistance with Protection Orders, accompanying clients to the hospital, court, and other agencies, some transportation, and participate in some multidisciplinary team meetings. 

Requirements: 

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Applicants must successfully pass criminal history and background checks.
  • Required to complete state mandated direct services/advocacy training within 90 days of being hired. The training typically takes place over evenings and weekends for a two week period.
  • Must be able to work some nights and weekends.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills (written, oral, and public speaking)
  • Strong collaboration skills; a team player
  • Experience with diverse populations preferred
  • Experience working with children and teenagers preferred
  • Ability to manage high-pressure situations
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Proficient use of technology, including Google workspace programs
