ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

The Wyoming Craft Brewers Guild is a 501(c)(6) non-profit trade association founded in 2014 whose mission is to support and connect the Wyoming craft beer community through advocacy, education and  promotion. The Guild currently has 30 voting brewery members and 30 Associate members. The most important events held each year are the annual WYO Craft Brewers Summit and the Wyoming Craft Brewers Cup statewide beer competition. Both events are held in September of each year at varying locations. The Guild Board of Directors, staff and members regularly participate in legislative efforts in Wyoming and in Washington D.C. to protect Wyoming breweries from harmful legislation and to champion legislation that aims to move the industry forward. The Guild also works closely with the Brewers Association, the national trade association which advocates for brewers’ rights across the country. ABOUT THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION

Responsible for achieving the Mission Statement of the Guild and executing goals and objectives as set forth by the Board of Directors. This position is expected to oversee the structure, process and financials to lead the organization to performance excellence and is responsible for managing all elements of the Guild’s development, including fundraising, membership, dues collection, events, media and marketing, support of legislative activity and administration dues. This part-time position will require passion for the industry, working in a developing environment and the confidence to grow a Wyoming Brewers Guild that is positively represented throughout the state and completes its mission of supporting Wyoming craft beer and craft breweries. This position works closely with all Guild committees to carry out the work set forth by the Board of Directors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

  • Regular communication with the Brewer’s Guild Board of Directors, Committees, and Members including monthly newsletters, email, meetings and phone calls.
  • Administrative
    • Oversight of all Association documents, including dues collection
    • Maintain Association records and files
  • Financial
    • Work with the treasurer to manage financial reports and establish project budgets
    • Responsible for meeting annual budget, once established
  • Membership
    • Responsible for maintaining accurate and current membership lists
    • Responsible for growing all levels of membership in collaboration with Membership Committee
    • Initiate, develop and implement fundraising programs in collaboration with Events Committee
  • Support Political Affairs
    • Support and assist the Legislative Committee in identifying and finding solutions to legislative priorities for voting brewery members.
    • Develop programs, documents and initiatives that support political affairs mission
  • Communications
    • Oversee and develop press releases and social media marketing efforts with assistance of Events Committee
    • Oversee and manage website. Update content as needed.
    • Manage and post regularly on Guild’s social media accounts
  • Events
    • Member Events: Work with Events Committee to coordinate and execute events aimed at offering education, increasing WY craft beer awareness or supporting Guild member breweries
    • Fundraising events: responsible for executing all current Association fundraising events and developing new events to generate revenue in collaboration with Events Committee
  • Develop and grow relationships with industry counterparts and trade associations

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Gmail, WordPress, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Some experience with QuickBooks Online. Must be able to understand and work with financial reports and create and manage a budget under supervision of Board of Directors.
  • Must be proficient in public speaking and have a basic level of media experience.
  • Must have knowledge of the beer and alcohol industry including a basic understanding of the regulations governing all types of alcohol.
  • Must be adept at networking. Must be comfortable meeting with and engaging with local leaders, policymakers, legislators, state officials.
  • Needs to be creative, innovative and enterprising to develop and lead fundraising efforts.
  • Must be comfortable and adept at working with brewers, suppliers, retailers, distributors, craft beer enthusiasts and others in the industry to sell membership and association ideals.
  • Must reside in Wyoming.
  • Will be required to attend various Association events and meetings throughout the state. May be required to travel to occasional seminars and conferences outside the state possibly including the Craft Brewers Conference (location varies), Washington D.C. Hill Climb and other state Guild conferences.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES 

Valid Driver’s license required. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Experience working in the craft beer industry and/or trade associations is ideal but not required. Must be self-motivated, highly organized, detail oriented and demonstrate initiative to create, develop and manage  multiple projects. Will need to demonstrate initiative and provide follow-through in all areas of responsibility. Must work cooperatively with committees and Board of Directors. Must display excellent verbal and writing skills and be an excellent “people person.” Positive thinker and quick learners are a must.
