The Director of Development is responsible for developing and strengthening relationships between Food Bank of Wyoming and its donors. Working with the Wyoming Executive Director and the Vice President of Philanthropy, the Director of Development develops short- and long-term goals and implements plans to increase support. This individual manages the identification, creative engagement and cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of donors. This individual also participates in strategic planning for the department. This position will be responsible for representing the work of Food Bank of Wyoming throughout the state to enhance fundraising efforts.

The mission of Food Bank of Wyoming is to ignite the power of community to nourish people facing hunger. We provide food and necessities to people in need through signature programs and by teaming up with hundreds of Hunger Relief Partners to serve communities across Wyoming. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of a successful fundraising program, including:
    • Individual solicitation
    • Direct Mail agency relationship and direct mail strategy
    • Grants
    • Corporate gifts
    • Virtual (Team Raiser) and in-person food drives and fundraising
    • 3rd party fundraising events and promotions
  • In coordination with the Wyoming Executive Director, the Vice President of Philanthropy, and the development team, create and ensure the successful implementation of a strategy, annual plan, and budget for the Food Bank of Wyoming
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and care, ensuring the privacy and respect of employees, volunteers, partners, donors, or others
  • Develop, plan, and coordinate donor engagement and cultivation opportunities such as tours, educational events, and volunteer experiences.
  • Work in collaboration with Food Bank of the Rockies' development and communications team to ensure best practices are met and consistency of strategy and messaging across the organization.
  • Actively manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospects, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • Responsible for meeting and exceeding annual revenue goals
  • Oversee the recruitment and engagement of volunteers
  • Manage the Food Bank of Wyoming fundraising team, including a Development Coordinator, and Volunteer Coordinator
  • Ability to create mutually- beneficial partnerships for Food Bank of Wyoming and community partners, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Meet goals by measurement of meaningful interactions, including phone, in-person, and email conversations for cultivation, stewardship, and solicitations, and coordinate closely for individual support with the individual giving fundraising team and for corporate support with the Corporate Partnerships Manager
  • Maintain accurate records in the database of record on donor moves and background notes.
  • Represent the Food Bank of Wyoming's mission with genuine passion and professionalism
  • Work as a cross-functional team member to promote Food Bank of Wyoming's brand/message to potential donors, the community, and staff

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Commitment to fulfilling the Food Bank of Wyoming mission and positively representing the brand both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated personal leadership coupled with strong team orientation, exemplary project management skills, and a high customer service focus
  • Ability to build highly collaborative partnerships with Food Bank of Wyoming and Food Bank of the Rockies staff, Board, community, and potential funders
  • Extensive knowledge of best practices in development, including moves management and individual solicitation, cause marketing, event planning, corporate partnerships, and promotions
  • Strong communication skills that are effective across a variety of constituencies
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, able to multi-task multiple assignments
  • Posses knowledge and oversees restrictive grants
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive and privileged [employee/donor/volunteer/neighbor] information and protects organization operations

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years or more of fundraising experience
  • 7+ years of management experience
  • Previous work managing a volunteer fundraising committee preferred
  • Extensive experience in Raiser's Edge, Bloomerang, or another fundraising database
  • Ability to handle and prioritize work in a multi-tasked environment, working to meet deadlines with minimal supervision  
  • Must be proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) 

 

Expected Hours of Work:

This is a salary, exempt role, working approximately 40 hours per week. Work schedules may vary each week and consist of weekdays, occasional evenings, or Saturdays. Typical Monday – Friday workweek.  Travel occasionally (10%).

Compensation:

$94,000 - $97,000 Annually + up to 8% annual bonus
