Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled Grant Writer to join our dynamic team at Gillette Community College District. As a Grant Writer, you will play a crucial role in securing funding opportunities that support our mission of providing accessible, high-quality education to our diverse student body. You will collaborate closely with faculty, administrators, and community partners to identify funding needs and develop compelling grant proposals that align with our strategic priorities.


Essential Functions (Employees of the District must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodations, the essential functions of the position as detailed in this section.)

• Research and identify potential funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other grant-making organizations.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to gather information necessary for proposal development.
• Write clear, persuasive, and compelling grant proposals, ensuring alignment with the college's strategic goals and funding guidelines.
• Prepare budgets and budget narratives that accurately reflect the financial needs of proposed projects.
• Manage the grant proposal submission process, including deadlines, timelines, and requirements.
• Maintain a calendar of submissions and reporting deadlines to ensure timely submissions and compliance with grant requirements.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with funders and stakeholders to enhance grant opportunities and partnerships.
• Monitor and evaluate grant-funded programs to assess effectiveness and impact, and prepare reports as required by funders and college leadership.
• Stay informed about trends and best practices in grant writing and funding opportunities relevant to higher education and community colleges.

Minimum Qualifications (Employees of the District are required to possess a minimum proficiency level of English, both written and spoken, that will enable them to communicate safely, effectively, and efficiently with students, co-workers, and the public.)

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (English, Communications, Public Administration, etc.).
• Proven experience in grant writing and proposal development, preferably in a higher education or nonprofit setting.
• Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
• Strong research and analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple deadlines and priorities effectively.
• Knowledge of budgeting principles and experience in developing project budgets.
• Familiarity with grant management software and online databases (e.g., Grants.gov, Foundation Directory Online).
• Commitment to the mission and values of Gillette Community College District, with a passion for education and community development.
